In an era where wine marketing is often louder than the wine itself, there’s something deeply refreshing about a vineyard that lets the land lead. At Galen Glen, we believe great wine doesn’t begin in the cellar—it begins in the soil, the slope, and the soul behind the vineyard. It begins with intention.

This is our approach to winemaking. It’s not flashy. It’s not driven by fads. But it’s real. And you can taste the difference.

Site-Specific, Sustainable Farming

We grow wine in a very specific place—the steep, high-elevation slopes of Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley. Our vineyard sits at over 1,000 feet above sea level on glacial soils that are littered with 360-million-year-old sea fossils. These conditions aren’t just part of our story; they are the story.

Every decision we make in the vineyard is driven by the land. That means thoughtful canopy management, cover cropping, and sustainable practices that protect the soil and the vines long-term. We farm with an eye on the future, because wine grown with care doesn’t just reflect a season—it reflects a legacy.

No Shortcuts, No Hype

We don’t chase trends. We grow what thrives here, not what belongs elsewhere. That’s why our wines steer clear of heavy oak, exaggerated styles or flashy winemaking tricks—we let the grapes and the site be heard.

What you will discover is a sense of place. Grape varieties that match our climate. Farming that respects the land. Wines that speak clearly, honestly, and without manipulation.

Grüner Veltliner, Grown the Right Way

One of our most celebrated wines is also one of our most intentional: Grüner Veltliner. Inspired by Sarah’s curiosity and brought to life by Galen’s hands in the vineyard, this Austrian grape has found a natural home in our soils and climate.

We don’t bend Grüner into something it isn’t. It’s not a copy of anything. It’s the purest version of itself, grown right here.

Seven Generations on This Land

Long before Galen Glen was a winery, it was a family farm. Our family’s roots in this soil run nearly 200 years deep. That connection guides every decision we make. We know the way the morning fog lifts off the vineyard, how the wind moves through the rows, how the soil changes from one block to another.

That history doesn’t just give us knowledge—it gives us responsibility. We don’t just want to make good wine. We want to be good stewards of this land for generations to come.
